friday, feb 15

hi from masai mara, an area in the very south of kenya, near tanzania. we are in a tent camp here for two days. we are camped rught next to the river and the baboons- yes, they followed lloyd here- and the hippos woke us up a number of times during the night. it rained very hard last night so the roads were exciting for the morning drive. grandpa saw micah's jackal today, plus lions, hyenas, serval cat, topi, reed buck, etc. we are moving tomorrow to alodge about an hours drive from here for the next two nights. we leave early monday morningfor nairobi. another story we will tell later is about the trip here. the roads are very rough- lloyd says that is an understatement. thanks for all the news from home. hope kayley is well now. Jana, glad your surgery news is better- can't wait to see the braces. steve, are you coming to pick us up? Friends- thanks for keeping us in your prayers.. It has been quite a journey!!!! P.S. Would somebody tell Lloyd how the BB teams are doing? Marie and Lloyd

Basketball update...
Last night at Foley, great game, close, we won by about 7 points. Actually we haven't lost yet since we lost the one game to Rocori. There.
Thanks for the birthday card! We'll have to go out to eat or something when you get back. Hope you continue to have a fun, safe trip! Will enjoy hearing the stories. And if they're anything like Gene's were, they'll get better every time! :)
Take care,
Diane

Hey mom and dad! Great to hear from you. I was ready to write a comment on your blog saying, "Hey! update the blog for all your 'fans!'" :) All is well here... Timm, Kayley and I are all feeling better. Thank goodness! Jenna is having 9 little girls over tomorrow (Sat) for her "friends" birthday party, and the family party (which you will miss...) will be Sunday afternoon. Guess what? We just got asked to take a 16 year old foster girl in... obviously, we will say "not at this time" but it was a surprise that they would ask. They must be a bit desperate... Jordan has 2 birthday parties this weekend (not including Jenna's). She is the social butterfly! Micah's doing well, and we have a dr's appointment with her neurologist in Mpls. on Monday. We'll probably be scheduling another EEG for him... he had another seizure last week and actually got on the WRONG bus! How scary! The girls came home, and NO Micah! Mom - you would've panicked! But, we found him... and he was feeling pretty scared when he got home. He said he didn't remember anything. So it had to have been a seizure. I talked to Dr. Wehsehler about it, and he thought so too. Such is life... So, we carry on... but we miss you guys. Can't wait to hear more stories and see pic's when you get home!!! Love ya! Ally

PS. Mom, I called and chatted with Grandma Gerry today. She is doing fine, and wondering how you guys were doing. She said that someone there had looked up the blog and read her your stories! That's awesome - Grandma is reading blogs!! Also, she said that she has a cold and was staying in her room because she didn't want to get the "old people" sick!! She's too great!! - Ally

Hi this is micah. Thanks for spotting my jackal!!!! Here's a joke for you. You might be a redneck if your kid brings a syphon-hose to school for show and tell. Here's another joke: Why couldn't Noah catch many fish while he was on the ark? Because he only had TWO worms!!! Bye. Micah

It was good to hear from you. I am amazed at the mom, how you can stay near a camp of baboons. I didn't know this side of you mom. Or are you on those vitamins? It sounds like you have certainly seen an amazing plethora of animals. I can't wait to see the photos and hear the stories LIVE! Update us if you will see Anne's family and the aids hospital. We are all doing well. We really enjoy reading your blog.
Love ya

Could it get any better or more excited than what you have experienced already??? What a dream-trip. I'm afraid we now have to come and visit you all again in Minnesota and enjoy the stories and probably incredible pictures.
Enjoy it to the fullest, warm greetings,

Ronald and Lydia

Hi World Travelers:

Re: update on BB. As Diane said we had a close game with Foley on Thurs. but pulled it off. On Tues. we played Waska and they stuck with us the first 10 minutes but then we pulled away. Jack and Gabe both got some playing time in at the end. Our girls team was drubbed by Albany but have still managed to win 20 games. Last night our wrestling team lost to Foley so won't make it to State as a team. Now they're havig individuals and we have several that havae a good chance.

On Thurs. Becky and I went to St. Cloud and saw Darrell. We brought communion, etc. and had a good visit. His roommate asked who Becky was and I said she was our parish nurse. He didn't get that so I told him she was kinda like a nun and he said that he thought she looked like a holy person. Now she is telling that to everyone she meets!

God's Blessings on the rest of your trip and God's Speed home.

Love,

Kathy

P.S.
Becky brought Darrell a blueberry shake and he loved it! We all had a very good talk about many things and I told him about Lloyd and his new baboon friends. He laughed and laughed about that. Ranny and Sonia Quanbeck also stopped by last week and we talked about your trip and I gave Sonia the blogspot.

We are fine here. Expecting Evert's daughter and her family tomorrow. They were supposed to have landed in Miami yesterday...have not heard from them yet. Thinking of you and looking forward to hearing the stories and seeing the pictures. How about bringing the show to us here in FL? Take care. Edna
