SUNDAY BLOG

Hi again. Tomorrow we leave this lodge that we have been at for 4 days. Each morning we do a game drive at 6; 30 AND then again at 4. Each lasts about 3 hours. This morning we watche a pride of 3 lions and later 2 cheetas. \later at the lodge we were sitting outside and about 50 baboons came through. I was taking pictures when one of them stole the book I got from the Hoffmans in 2000. I chased it as marie hollered at me. Two of the native dancers went into the bush and retrieved the torn book. A good time was had by all.
We are well and having lots of fun. Still appreciate the prayers. We will continue this the next chance we get.

I'll do it Again! Minus fifteen this morning! Already warmed up to minus ten. We just love MN from Africa, or TX, or Arizona. Great to read your blog this morning. Don't let those animals get the best of you. Let Marie chase the baboons! Doc Hagen called he is headed for Project Turnabout. We think about you often, and await your pictures, stories and safe return.

Hi Mom and Dad

Finally got your blog to accept my email address. Sounds like you are having a lot of fun and collecting great stories. I am very happy for you. Daidre, Barb and Larry are just arriving at our house in Florida now after driving straight through since Friday night at midnight. Keep posting, we check it a couple times a day. Love you both. Prayers are with you. God Bless.

Hi Lloyd and Marie! Sounds like you are having lots of fun! I thought of you both yesterday when I was on campus for a lecture on African drumming (I got extra credit for my music class). I got a little glimpse of what you maybe are experiencing! Lloyd-you should take better care of the stuff we give you :) Take a picture of those monkeys for me! I'll keep the prayers coming your way.. love, Anna

I too had some hoops to jump through to get a message sent to you...way out in the bush. I am trying again... Sounds as though you are having a great time with those wild beasts. I hope they enjoyed the book. At six a.m. my thermometer sat exactly on -30. Was -14 on the way to New London at 11. You escaped Minnesota in the nick of time. Praying for your safety and that you are enjoying beautiful Kenya. Don Wendroth

Hi to both of you from chilly MN!!! This is a process to get through, but I am sticking it out. Your adventures sound like a once in a life time experience. I can't wait to see your pictures. Greetings from us all at Wed. morning bible study. You are at the top of the prayer list. Safe travels, Debbie

Hi mom and dad! Wow - what a funny story! I can't believe the baboons are so bold... I can't believe YOU were so bold as to chase them for your book!! :) Sounds like you are having the trip of a lifetime. Too fun! We are FREEZING here... I hope you feel sorry for us just a little...

We had a fun trip to Minneapolis last weekend. We're all tired... but it was a great trip. We got to see some "old" friends and the concert went great! We had Kayley along so that added an extra "element" to the trip - but she was a trooper (so was Timm... as he spent most of the time with her when I was in rehearsals etc).

Well, keep the updates coming and hopefully pic's next time... and we'll keep the prayers going up for you as well.

Love ya, Ally and family

ps. your puppy is doing well!!

Hi from sunny Aruba,

I always knew monkeys were intelligent (they finally get a chance to read a decent book, is it taken from them again).

Funny, funny, bless you all, take good care of each other.

Hi Bakkes!
So funny about the baboons!! I am so envious of all you are experiencing! Fun to read your posts. Someday I must do that too! Life as usual around here. Nothing new. Take care!

Hi LLoyd and Marie:

Lloyd, the baboon took your book because he recognized a relative! Ha-ha.

Marie, I know you're dying to know how the annual mtg. went--it was over in a little over an hour, everything passed as presented and we had to call people to come so we could have a quorum. That's what happens when it's very cold out and there's nothing controversial.

Maybe blog's aren't such a good idea--you're supposed to be gettng away from it all--including us!!

Oh well, we all love you and enjoy hearing about your adventures.

Don't let Lloyd use that baboon excuse if he runs into the wild with a native dancer!

Hey Lloyd and Marie! Glad you're having a fabulous (and eventful!) time. Wow, think of the stories you'll be telling for years....we don't have a lot of baboons in downtown New London. Enjoy the rest of your trip, and keep up the good work in entertaining us! By the way, is Marie getting much knitting done??

Hi mom and dad, got your email. I'll be sure to tell Jenna Happy Birthday from you. She will like that. Unfortunately, Timm got the stomach flu yesterday morning on his way to work, and came back home, and then by mid-morning I got it. And, Kayley had to go to the doctor and she got tested for RSV (we'll get the test results back today, and a social worker called and asked us to take another 8 mo. old baby boy... obviously, I said it wasn't a good time right now...). Wow! So our poor kids had to fend for themselves yesterday... they were troopers. They made supper for themselves and everything. We just laid in bed the whole time, it was awful... Timm is still home and neither of us are feeling 100% yet, but we are feeling a little better. At least we can function. Ally

You crazy baboon chaser! Did you think about your odds at all 50 to 1? everyone that I tell that story to has a real good laugh! It is so nice to have a diary of your trip...keep up the blogging!

We are doing well. We got more snow and I think we are to get another 6 or more inches today. The kids have a 4 day weekend and we are going to snowmobile and ski. We welcome the white stuff.

Ander has braces too. We now own a wing at the orthodontist's office.

We look forward to the updates. They are so fun to read. We are sending a copy of the stories to school. The kids wanted to read it to their classes.

Hey good news from the MD my MCL has repaired itself. I just need to have the new ACL constructed and a couple other things. It means a little quicker recovery. Yahoo.

Love you much!

Poor little thing! Just wanted to give you an update. We are looking forward to having you guys home again!! Bob made it home from AZ last night. Micah will be very happy about that! HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY!!!
